Great Marlborough Lofts

Originate recently designed new luxury loft in Soho, London. 3-4 Great Marlborough Street is an attractive 1888 Victorian office building, with beautiful bay windows and good ceiling heights. We converted the existing offices, from the first to fifth floors, creating four new spacious loft apartments. We also refurbished the existing fabric of the building. Originate designed a new rear extension to create better proportioned internal floors, whilst adding private outdoor amenity spaces. We were able to provide new terraces and balconies to all the lofts. We wanted to bring more natural light and outdoor living spaces to this dense urban site.

Originate wanted to pay homage to Soho’s creative history in our design aesthetic. We used oak plank warehouse-type flooring and industrial materials such as blackened steel. We used highlights of bronze metal and exposed the brickwork in certain key areas.

Originate was able to secure approval for this office-to-residential conversion, whilst restoring the 19th century facade and maximising the internal space. We worked closely with brand consultants, agents and contractors to achieve a consistent design vision.
