Southwark Smart Space

Originate Architects have submitted a planning application to transform an unused underground car park into 2000 square metres of co-working space in Camberwell. The developers are hoping that this  South London location will attract a variety of young professionals and creatives. We found that this area does not have many affordable working spaces. Our design aims to help meet the rise in demand for co-working spaces.

The existing car park has not been used for over 20 years. The proposal will bring the space back to life, keeping all the existing structure, and adding selective new materials to soften the existing concrete, such as polycarbonate and timber. New stairs will provide access to the roof deck, a vast public space with new seating and greenery.
